Hope. Despair. Miracles. by Mexican-British photographer Roxana Allison, takes the viewer on an insider’s journey around Longsight, the multi-ethnic working-class neighbourhood in Southeast Manchester, UK, where she lives.

Photographic portraits, landscapes and words in English and Urdu languages, offer a unique opportunity to meet the inspiring changemakers of a resilient community rich in cultural diversity, yet long-associated – sometimes unfairly – with its complex social issues.

‘Hope. Despair. Miracles.’ calls us to shift our senses towards finding beauty in the mundane and to focus our attention on the small wins led by everyday people. These wins, in the face of great odds, can seem like miracles.
